On November 17th, the paleontology department of the Atyrau regional local history museum along with the ethno-cultural association 'Bylina,' held an event to install a memorial plaque for Y.A. Pastukhov, a local historian, the founder of the paleontology museum, and a cultural figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The memorial plaque for Y.A. Pastukhov was installed on the wall of the paleontology department at the Atyrau regional local history museum, which is located in the building on M. Auezov Street, 1, Atyrau city.

Yuriy Alexandrovich Pastukhov, whose name is known throughout the Atyrau region, is the first paleontologist in our region. Since 1986, for almost 30 years, he organized expeditions to the Akkeregesh and AktolagayCretaceous formations in our region. The collections gathered during these expeditions became the basis for the opening of the only Mesozoic era paleontological museum in Kazakhstan.

Opening remarks were delivered by A. Kystaubayeva, Deputy Head of the Department of culture and language development of Atyrau region.

The event was attended by media personnel, citizens advocating for national unity, representatives of the city's community, a cultural figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, member of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan L. Monastyrskaya, Deputy chairman of the Council of veterans of Atyrau region, S. Mukhambetov, Doctor of historical sciences from the Kh. DosmukhamedovAtyrau university, professor AkhmetAkkaliKabyzhanuly, students, friends, descendants of Y.A. Pastukhov, and his wife Olga Leonidovna. They shared memories of Y.A. Pastukhov's life, his contributions, collected heritage, and the paleontological expeditions. Additionally, students and teachers from the K. Dutbayevhumanitarian college attended the event. The event concluded with a guided tour through the exhibition halls.
